Chiropractic Adjustments
Chiropractic is defined as a form of complementary and alternative medicine which is most typically focused on the diagnosis and treatment of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system. The most common area of focus for chiropractors is the spine, which includes the neck, back and pelvis.
When someone has a joint fixation, a chiropractor can relieve the fixated joint and restore more normal movement. This procedure is called an adjustment within the chiropractic field, but is also commonly referred to spinal manipulation, joint manipulation, or chiropractic manipulative therapy.
The "pop" sounds sometimes made during these joint manipulations sometimes shocks people a little bit at first, but the sensation is usually relieving and not painful at all. The pop sound isn't due to any joints being dislocated or "put back into place", but simply a gas bubble formation within the joint as a result of stretching the joint. It's much like cracking your knuckles.
Manual Therapies
Cedar South Chiropractic uses various manual therapies in order to help loosen and stretch your tight muscles. This can feel like a quick massage. We perform trigger point therapy, myofascial release, percussion therapy with the Hypervolt, and “pin and stretch” muscle release treatments.
Manual muscle therapies are an excellent addition to chiropractic manipulations. While the adjustment will address the mobility dysfunction of the joint, the muscle work will address shortening/tightening of soft tissues (muscles).
If your pain or loss of range of motion is due to muscle tightness or fascial shortening, the myofascial release therapies may be very beneficial for you.
Rehab Exercises
We provide our patients personalized exercise protocols to help strengthen and correct their own unique problem. Our goal is to teach our patients functional rehabilitation exercises. At Cedar South Chiropractic, functional rehabilitation consists of a variety of corrective and performance exercises in order to improve your movement and function in everyday living. We can demonstrate these beneficial exercises in-office, with the goal of you performing them properly at home to help strengthen and stabilize your problem area.
Auto Accident Recovery
If you have recently been in an accident you might be looking for a highly specialized Accident Chiropractor to diagnose and treat your injuries. We relieve pain, restore full range of comfortable body movement, and will help you with auto insurance claims and legal counsel. In most cases chiropractic adjustments combined with rehab exercises, physical therapy modalities, and massage will help you get rid of neck pain, back pain, and headaches that are caused by car accidents. Following a car accident, we commonly see patients with various complaints including neck and upper back pain, lower back pain, headaches, radiating pain or numbness into the arms or legs, shoulder, elbow, and wrist pain and stiffness. Most of these musculoskeletal conditions can be treated and managed effectively with non-invasive chiropractic treatments, helping avoid or minimize the use of drugs or surgery. Personal Injury Protection is a no-fault policy. In the State of Minnesota, all drivers automatically have No-Fault Personal Injury Protection (also known as PIP) on their car insurance policy. You will NOT have to pay for your treatment if you use your PIP. This is true weather you or another driver is at fault.
